Inspired by the passion and dedication of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam to relieve the suffering of the poor in the community, we grow fresh, healthy vegetables and herbs on our parish land and donate the food we harvest to the poor who live in our parish and in shelters. We also provide the opportunity for people to rent their own garden space for a small donation to self-fund our ministry of charity.
Everyone benefits. Our gardeners develop fun, new skills in a safe, outdoor environment and have a chance to participate with others in positive, meaningful ways. We enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, and renewed connection with God’s creation. The poor appreciate the healthy produce and the personal, providential care they receive from others. Anyone can join: men, women, and children. No experience is required and there are many ways you can become part of this growing ministry.
Our vision is that this will continue to grow in size and spirituality, and that this parish ministry, that started like a small seed, will expand, flourish, produce much fruit and show God’s boundless love for us, our Church, and for the poor we serve with joy.
